Breaking Up With a Toxic Partner: LGBTQIA+ Freedom from Big Tobacco

Date: Oct. 11, 2022

In this hybrid educational event participants will learn about how Big Tobacco wormed its way into the fabric of the LGBTQ+ landscape, the red flags of this toxic relationship, and how to break up with this toxic partner.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to identify how tobacco and vape products impact physical and mental health.​
  2. Participants will be able to identify the historical predatory marketing practices of Big Tobacco within the LGBTQ+ community, how they continue to market to the LGTBTQ+ community, and how that has impacted health disparities and how that relates to social justice.
  3. Participants will be able to identify resources to help address mental health needs, how to access cessation resources, and systems changes that can aid in sustainable change (Micro, mezzo and macro approaches)​
