Ponchatoula passes ordinance prohibiting smoking in public places

The City of Ponchatoula says no to smoking in certain places within city limits.
The ordinance, according to the Hammond Daily Star was passed unanimously Monday evening by the city council.
The ordinance will prohibit smoking in workplaces and public places within city limits.
The paper reports that the ordinance was aimed at a public desire to make bars and restaurants smoke-free.
